SquadBear vs Lattice

SquadBear includes 360 reviews in the $4 seat. Lattice sells Performance, Goals and Engagement on an annual contract with a $4,000 minimum.

Comparison last reviewed October 2026.

TL;DR: Lattice is a talent suite you assemble: Performance, Goals, Engagement, and paid add-ons, on an annual contract with a $4,000 minimum. SquadBear puts a 360 and frozen goals in the same monthly $4 USD seat as leave and time, and runs no model on the review. Buy Lattice for calibration, cascading OKRs or compensation. Buy SquadBear when the review should sit next to leave and the assistant you already use.

Where SquadBear is the stronger choice

No module invoice and no annual minimum. A 15-person team on Lattice Performance alone is already at the $4,000 floor (15 times $10 times 12 is $1,800, under the minimum). The same team on SquadBear is 15 times $4, monthly, with leave and time included.

The draft stays in your assistant. It may suggest a rating. You submit. Peer names never reach it, and it cannot read upward feedback.

Upward feedback has a floor. Results appear only when at least three direct reports answered, without names. That is not a promise that writing style cannot identify someone.

Where Lattice is the stronger choice

  • Calibration and talent reviews. If you need a room to compare ratings, or a grid, that is their Performance product. We do not build it.
  • Cascading goals. Company goals that break into team and personal goals, plus a Jira connection on that module. Our goals do not roll up, and SquadBear does not import Jira into a review.
  • Compensation cycles. Bands, statements, approvals. We do not do pay.
  • Engagement as a product. Pulse surveys and an analysis layer. Our health checks are included, and they are not Lattice.

Who should pick which

  • Pick SquadBear if you want reviews in the same monthly seat as leave and time, and you do not need calibration, OKR trees or compensation.
  • Pick Lattice if calibration, cascading goals, compensation or a dedicated engagement suite is the reason you are buying.

Frequently asked questions

Is SquadBear a Lattice alternative?

For a 360, goals that freeze when the round opens, and a draft in your own assistant, yes. Lattice is the stronger buy when you need calibration, talent reviews, cascading goals, compensation cycles or an engagement suite.

What does Lattice publish for price?

On lattice.com/pricing (24 Oct 2026) Performance is $10 per seat per month, Goals and OKRs are $8, and Engagement is $4. Compensation is an extra $6 and Grow is an extra $4. Contracts are billed annually. The minimum annual agreement is $4,000. An older Foundations bundle at $13 was not on that page.

Does SquadBear calibrate or rank people?

No. Ratings are not averaged, nobody is sorted by them, and there is no 9-box. Buy Lattice when that workflow is the point.

Is there a performance add-on on SquadBear?

No. Reviews are included. Free for up to 5 active people, then $4 USD per active person per month before tax. Free keeps three open goals per person. Paid plans do not cap open goals. A review freezes at most five.
