Where SquadBear is the stronger choice
No rollout theatre. Personio wants a demo, a quote and a project. You can create a SquadBear workspace, enroll Vacation, and have Tomasz approving leave before lunch.
The assistant does the queue. "Who's out next week?" "Log 6 hours on Platform v2." "Request Friday off." MCP, your permissions, the same audit log. You are not clicking through an enterprise information architecture to find a balance.
Time tracking for the people who write the code. Hours on a Jira issue, not a generic attendance clock. Leave already subtracted. CapEx / OpEx if you claim R&D. Personio's time is built around attendance and overtime. Different job.
Price you do not have to hide. Free for 5. $4 after that. No setup fee, no annual-only package to get the module you actually wanted.
Where Personio is the stronger choice
- Native DACH and UK payroll. Tax, authorities, the real engine. We export absences. They pay people.
- ATS. Job boards, screening, interview loops. We start on day one of employment.
- Salary and compensation workflows. Pay reviews, bands and the paperwork around a raise. We do not run compensation. Native payroll is the other half of that edge, in the row above.
- Many entities and collective agreements. If you run many legal entities under different collective agreements, Personio is built for that. Headcount is not the dividing line here. Entity and agreement complexity is.

Can SquadBear feed payroll?
Yes. Approved absences export as CSV (and over MCP) with leave-type codes you map to the payroll system's vocabulary. We do not run payroll ourselves.
