Bridge day finder

Pick a country to see which workdays to take as leave so a public holiday joins a weekend or another holiday. Every option uses 1 to 4 leave days, covers 2026 and 2027, and is ranked by days off per leave day. No sign-up needed.

Nationwide holidays only

Regional days (German Länder, Swiss cantons, Spanish autonomous communities and others) are not included, and the United Kingdom uses England and Wales bank holidays. A Monday to Friday working week is assumed.

Frequently asked questions

What is a bridge day?

A workday between a public holiday and a weekend, or between two holidays. Taking it as leave joins the days off into one longer break: with a holiday on Thursday, one day of leave on Friday gives four days off in a row.

Are regional holidays included?

No. The pages use nationwide public holidays only, and England and Wales bank holidays for the United Kingdom. German Länder, Swiss cantons, Spanish autonomous communities and other regions add their own days, which can create more bridges than shown.

Does this work out what my employer gives me?

No. It assumes a Monday to Friday week and the national holiday list. Contracts, collective agreements and company calendars can add or remove days off, so check those before booking.

The holiday lists themselves are on the public holidays by country pages. More free tools: all tools.
