Claude Code MCP for leave, time and HR
Add SquadBear to Claude Code with one terminal command. Authenticate once, then book leave, log time and run HR from the CLI.
Claude Code talks to the same SquadBear MCP server as Claude on the web. One command in the terminal. Authenticate once. Then ask.
One command
claude mcp add --transport http squadbear plus the MCP URL. That is the in-app snippet.
OAuth in the browser
From Claude Code, /mcp → squadbear → Authenticate. You pick scopes on SquadBear's consent screen.
Acts as you
Same role, same modules, same audit log as a click in the app.
Same catalog as Claude
The full /mcp catalog, including specialist presets. Not the ChatGPT subset.
How to connect Claude Code
- Register the server once:
claude mcp add --transport http squadbear https://app.squadbear.com/mcp
- Start
claude, run/mcp, select squadbear, and choose Authenticate. The browser opens the SquadBear consent screen. - Pick scopes and approve. Everyday work covers leave, approvals, directory, time, attendance and assigned tasks.
- Call
get_context. If it returns your identity and workspace, the connection resolved to you.
The in-app AI agents page prints the same command with your origin substituted (staging or localhost included).
An agent can also set itself up from squadbear.com/agent-setup/prompt.md.
What you can ask
Leave balances and requests, coverage, timesheets, attendance punches, health checks, processes, reports - whatever your role and scopes allow. Sensitive writes (policy, erasure, workspace settings, process starts) wait for you in SquadBear.
Which assistant, which URL
| Assistant | Endpoint | How you add it |
|---|---|---|
| Claude | /mcp | claude.ai or Desktop. Add to Claude prefills the connector. A free account can add one. |
| Claude Code | /mcp | One terminal command, then /mcp Authenticate. |
| ChatGPT | /mcp/chatgpt | Curated catalog. Plus, Pro, Team or Enterprise. |
| Grok | /mcp | grok.com connectors, or grok mcp add in Grok Build. |
| Gemini CLI | /mcp | gemini mcp add, then /mcp auth. |
| Cursor | /mcp | Add to Cursor on the MCP page, or an HTTP server in Cursor settings. |
| Codex | /mcp | ~/.codex/config.toml, then codex mcp login. |
A token minted for /mcp is rejected on /mcp/chatgpt, and the reverse. Same permissions and audit trail either way.

Frequently asked questions
Is Claude Code different from Claude on the web?
Same SquadBear endpoint (https://app.squadbear.com/mcp) and the same permissions. Claude Code is the terminal client: one command to register, then /mcp to authenticate. claude.ai uses Settings → Connectors instead.
What is the exact command?
claude mcp add --transport http squadbear https://app.squadbear.com/mcp. That string is what the AI agents page shows in the app.
Can Claude Code change a leave policy?
The first call stores a 30-minute proposal. You approve it in SquadBear while signed in. The MCP token cannot approve leave policy and entitlement changes, workspace settings, role changes, admin invites, erasure or process starts.
Does it use the ChatGPT URL?
No. Claude Code uses /mcp, like Claude, Grok, Gemini, Cursor and Codex. ChatGPT uses /mcp/chatgpt.
