Grok MCP for leave, time and HR

Connect Grok to SquadBear over MCP. Add a custom connector on grok.com, or grok mcp add in Grok Build, then run leave and time under your login.

Grok talks to SquadBear over MCP the same way Claude does: one HTTP endpoint, your login, your role. SquadBear stays the system of record. Grok is the assistant you already use.

What you can do in Grok

Book leave, check who is out, log hours, clock in, start a health check, pull a report - in plain language. Sensitive changes (policy, erasure, workspace settings, process starts) still wait for you in SquadBear.

Grok does not become a second HR system. It does not screen candidates, score people, or infer how someone feels.

How to connect Grok

On grok.com

Open grok.com/connectors.
New Connector → Custom.
Name it SquadBear. Server URL: https://app.squadbear.com/mcp.
Complete the SquadBear sign-in and pick scopes.

In Grok Build (terminal)

grok mcp add --transport http squadbear https://app.squadbear.com/mcp

On first use Grok opens a browser for OAuth. You can also declare it in ~/.grok/config.toml:

Then call get_context. If it returns your identity and workspace, you are on the right person.

SquadBear is a public HTTPS MCP server. You do not need a tunnel. Localhost URLs are what Grok rejects; app.squadbear.com is not localhost.

Permissions and audit

Grok acts as you. Scopes freeze at consent. Everyday writes follow Grok's Ask-style confirmation. Sensitive admin changes, such as leave policies, workspace settings, role changes, erasure and process starts, store a 30-minute proposal; only your signed-in SquadBear session can approve. Every call is in Workspace settings → Audit log.

Does SquadBear work with Grok?

Yes. Grok speaks MCP. Point it at https://app.squadbear.com/mcp. On grok.com use Connectors → New Connector → Custom. In Grok Build run grok mcp add --transport http squadbear https://app.squadbear.com/mcp. OAuth opens in the browser.

Is Grok the same URL as Claude?

Yes. Grok, Claude, Claude Code, Gemini, Cursor and Codex all use /mcp. ChatGPT uses /mcp/chatgpt, a curated subset.

Can Grok approve leave?

If you can approve that request in the app, Grok can too, after you grant the approval scopes. An employee's Grok cannot approve other people's leave.

Do you send our people data to xAI?

SquadBear does not call Grok itself. If you connect Grok, authorized SquadBear tool results are returned to Grok and may be processed by xAI under your agreement. Separately, optional built-in summaries use Cloudflare Workers AI. See the Security page.
