Log your first week of time

Set up a project, see it appear on your team's timesheets, and log your first hours

This covers both sides of time tracking: an admin setting up a project, and an employee logging hours against it.

Admin side

  1. Time tracking → Projects → New project (admin only). Name it, and optionally set a default time category (more on that in the R&D guide).
  2. Open the project's Work items panel and add the work items people will log time against.
  3. Open the project's Members panel and assign who sees it on their grid. This is a filter only — it never blocks anyone from logging time against a project they aren't assigned to.

Employee side

  1. Time tracking → My week. Any work item from a project you're a member of already appears on the grid at 0 hours, so you can see what you're expected to work on before you've logged anything against it.
  2. Type hours into a day's cell — decimal is fine (7.5) — it saves as you move off the cell or hit Enter.
  3. Time tracking → My month gives a calendar view; click a day to see or edit its entries.
  4. Expected hours per day come from your own work schedule, not a flat 8 — a four-day-week employee sees 0 expected on their day off.

An admin can limit how far back entries can be edited, at Time tracking → Settings → "Editing window (days)" (empty means no limit, 0 locks everything before today). Employees can't edit past that window; admins always can, and an admin edit outside the window is flagged in the audit log.

Managers get Time tracking → Team timesheets, a summary across everyone reporting to them, with CSV export. From any of the Week/Month/Team pages, a Reports tab groups by user, project, work item or time category, filters by team, project or category, and exports CSV — see the R&D guide for what that split is actually for.

Worked example

Northlake's admin creates two projects: "Platform v2" and "Maintenance & support," adds a "Bug triage" work item to Platform v2, and assigns all 12 engineers to both. On Monday, backend developer Tomasz opens My week and sees both projects' work items already listed at 0h. He logs 6h against Platform v2 and 2h against Bug triage.
